Shenandoah Senior Living assists seniors with activities of daily living, including transfer support.
Shenandoah Senior Living is a residential senior retirement community in Front Royal, VA. Both our assisted living and memory care communities offer transfer assistance for residents with difficulty ambulating.
Does Shenandoah Senior Living accept seniors that can’t ambulate?
The answer to this is a resounding YES!
We are fortunate to be able to provide transfer assistance to our residents. If you have bad knees, a bad back, are paralyzed, are an amputee, or you are recovering from a broken bone, we are here to help you get from one place to another so that you can continue to live as independently as possible.
Examples of our transfer assistance:
- In and out of bed
- In and out of the wheelchair
- In and out of the car
- In and out of the bathtub
- On and off the restroom facilities
Our community is prepared to assist you with around-the-clock support for all of your activities of daily living!
What are Activities of Daily Living?
The Katz Index of Independence in Activities of Daily Living lists six basic functions that people should be able to do to live independently.
- Using the restroom
- Transferring (getting out of bed unassisted)
- Continence management
As we age, these often become more difficult but living in an assisted living community, you have access to the support you need to continue to live as independently as possible.
Does this mean I can still participate in activities and excursions?
Of course – we wouldn’t have it any other way!
Seniors need to stay active and social. Every month we have a schedule of activities in our residential community as well as excursions in the Front Royal area.
When you are a part of the community, we do whatever we can to help you continue doing what you love and to live a vibrant and fulfilling life.
- Arts and crafts
- Morning strolls around the community
- Parties and socials
- Scenic drives
- Dining out in Front Royal
- A picnic in a park
What does Shenandoah Senior Living offer?
Shenandoah Senior Living is both an assisted living and memory care community.
Assisted living allows you as much independence as you can manage with 24-hour support for activities of daily living. You live in a spacious, modern apartment while we handle chores like housekeeping, cooking, and laundry. This leaves you free to enjoy all the amenities of our assisted living community, as well as socialize and take advantage of the scheduled activities.
We also have a memory care area in our community. Our memory care program provides 24-hour support for daily living, but it also provides around-the-clock care in a secure and structured environment designed to be calming and tranquil for residents living with Alzheimer’s or dementia. A licensed nurse heads up a team of associates who are specially trained to meet the needs of residents who require dementia care or Alzheimer’s care. Programming includes a variety of curated activities that support physical wellness as well as brain health.
